renge can be described as a delusional and overzealous follower of hidan, displaying extreme obsessive and stalkerish behaviour toward his idol. he is infatuated with jashinism and exists solely to appease his god by wreaking havoc and mayhem wherever opportunity strikes. he is typically very unsubtle about it, drawing lots of attention to himself and his murderous sprees, but he is surprisingly skillful and agile, managing to avoid capture at almost every turn. he has acutely studied hidan and his battling technique, improving upon it where he sees fit and going to major extremes with his own techniques.

he is overtly sadistic and maniacal, taking great pleasure in maiming and killing his victims to the point that it appears almost sexual in the way it affects him. he typically doesn't care about making a mess when it comes to his "sacrifices", but occasionally, if he finds himself with a lone victim, he'll draw it out and make it as painful as possible. he rather enjoys inflicting pain upon himself during his death possession technique, savouring the sight of his injuries appearing on his target. his masochistic tendencies often leave him feeling a bit "high", so to speak, which is the only time he is semi-vulnerable to attacks from his surroundings.

he has also developed the precursor to the body possession technique used by ryuki in konoha shinden, a jutsu called the human doll technique. he utilizes hand-made dolls that resemble vodou dolls for this technique, linking his victim's blood with a custom-made doll that he'll then stab and rip with pins and needles, or occasionally his own fingernails and teeth. he normally only uses this technique when he's enacting a personal vendetta against someone who he feels has wronged him, but he isn't opposed to using it on someone he really "likes", either, thinking it to be a more intimate method of killing someone.
