the victim of torturous experiments by the hands of a rogue gold clansman, anna is taken in by homra and initiated into the red clan. she is a strain with exceptional psychic capabilities, though she is more than content to sit on the sidelines while homra conducts its rather violent operations.

she has developed a special bond with the red king mikoto suoh, who has more or less become something of a father figure to her, and rarely leaves his side.

having awakened as the new red king following the death of mikoto suoh, anna is determined to take up the mantle as homra's fearless leader in spite of her young age.

even as a fledgling king, her power is on par with that of the other kings, but her clansmen are understandably very protective of her. while capable of critical thinking and rationale, she will often defer to izumo to handle a fair portion of important decisions.

unbeknownst to the rest of the world, there was one, lone survivor of the chinoike clan. anna chinoike, later given the surname kushina to conceal her true identity, was kidnapped some time before the clan's self-destruction. her captor was a man known as koshi mizuchi, a former medic nin since turned rogue.

he coveted the chinoike clan's ketsuryugan and its ability to manipulate blood. thus, after abducting anna, he used her for his own gain, torturing her time and time again until she became obedient and used her power whenever he commanded it. she was forced to cripple and sometimes even kill koshi's enemies, luring in her targets with her innocent, doll-like appearance.

anna received the moniker "angel of blood" for her despicable actions. many villages have even concocted their own myths and legends about her, warning of her murderous gaze. this went on for almost three years before anna had finally had enough. pushed to her limits, she turned on koshi, having reached a mastery over her own power to allow her to battle him head-on and win.

in the end, she killed him without mercy and subsequently went into hiding. she is still hated by many and cannot afford to show her face openly. whenever she must go out in public to gather food and the like, she wears a hooded shawl and never gives out her real name. she has become overly cautious of all of humanity and rightfully so.
